You can browse webpages by viewing them as separate tabs within the Safari window.
Open pages in tabs individually
Open Safari if it is not already open.
Do any of the following:
Control-click a link on a webpage and choose “Open Link in New Tab,” or Command (⌘)-click the link.
Control-click a bookmark in the bookmarks bar and choose “Open in New Tab” or “Open in Tabs,” or Command (⌘)-click the bookmark.
Press the Command (⌘) key and click the Back or Forward button.
Press the Command (⌘) key and click the open-book icon.
Press the Command (⌘) key and click the Top Sites icon.
Note:If you deselect “⌘-click opens a link in a new tab” in Safari Tabs preferences, the Command (⌘) key shortcuts open new windows instead of tabs.
Open pages in tabs automatically
Open Safari if it is not already open.
Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Tabs.
Choose Automatically from the “Open pages in tabs instead of windows” pop-up menu.
Choose Always only if you want all links that would normally open new windows to open in new tabs, including links designed to open in specially formatted separate windows (for example, a small user name and password dialog).
Open tabs from the bookmarks list
Open Safari if it is not already open.
To view your bookmark list, click the open-book icon.
In the sidebar, select the collection that contains the bookmarks you want to open. The collection’s bookmarks appear on the right.
If you can’t see the list of bookmarks on the right because Cover Flow view is covering it, drag up on the handle below the Cover Flow scroll bar.
Select the bookmarks you want to open, and then press the Space bar.
Note:If you deselect “⌘-click opens a link in a new tab” in Safari Tabs preferences, the Command (⌘) key shortcuts open new windows instead of tabs.
Bookmark a set of tabs as a collection
Open Safari if it is not already open, and then open the webpages as tabs in one Safari window.
Choose Bookmarks > “Add Bookmark for These Tabs.”
Type a name for the bookmark, choose a location from the pop-up menu, and then click Add.
If you put the collection in the bookmarks bar, you can have all the pages in it open in tabs when you click the collection. Click the open-book icon, select Bookmarks Bar in the sidebar, and then select Auto-Click next to the collection’s name in the list on the right.
Rearrange or move tabs
Open Safari if it is not already open.
To rearrange tabs, place the pointer over a tab and drag it left or right in the tab bar.
To open a tab in a different Safari window, place the pointer over the tab and drag it to another Safari window.
To open a tab in a new, separate window, drag it to the desktop or choose Window > “Move Tab to New Window.”
To combine several open Safari windows into a single window with multiple tabs, choose Window > Merge All Windows.
To change your preferences for opening pages in tabs, choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Tabs.
