Revisit webpages

Safari keeps track of the webpages you visit so you can easily return to them. By default, Safari stores about a month’s worth of webpages.

Open Safari if it is not already open.

  • To move through your history one page at a time, click the Back and Forward buttons in the toolbar. To choose from a list of previous pages, press and hold the buttons.

If you have a trackpad or mouse that supports gestures, you can swipe left and right to move through your history one page at a time.

  • To choose from a longer list of webpages, open the History menu. You can also choose one of the Reopen options.

  • To view all the webpages in your browsing history, choose History > Show All History.

Use the horizontal scroll bar to flip through Cover Flow previews of pages you browsed today. If you have a trackpad or mouse that supports gestures, you can swipe to flip through the previews. To see a list of earlier pages, drag up on the handle below the scroll bar.

If you don’t see webpage previews, Cover Flow may be hidden. To open Cover Flow, drag the black bar down.

  • To visually browse previews of webpages you visit frequently, view your Top Sites page.

In Top Sites view, click the History button to see your history in Cover Flow.
