The Safari window has a toolbar, bookmarks bar, and tab bar along the top, and a status bar at the bottom. You can hide, show, and customize these bars.
Hide or show a bar
Open Safari if it is not already open.
Choose View > Hide Toolbar, Hide Bookmarks Bar, Hide Tab Bar, or Hide Status Bar. If a bar is hidden, its View menu option changes to Show.
You can’t hide the tab bar when there are multiple tabs in the window.
Customize the toolbar
Open Safari if it is not already open.
Choose View > Customize Toolbar.
Drag buttons into or out of the toolbar.
To rearrange the buttons, drag them where you want them.
Click Done.
To bypass these steps and quickly rearrange buttons, hold down the Command (⌘) key and drag the buttons where you want them. This shortcut doesn’t work for the Top Sites, Home, History, or Bookmarks (open book) buttons.
