Safari keeps a list of the items you downloaded. You may want to clear this list to maintain privacy or reduce clutter.
Note:Clearing the list removes only the names of items you’ve downloaded. The items themselves are not removed from your computer.
Clear the downloads list
Open Safari if it is not already open.
Open the downloads list.
On Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, click the Show Downloads button near the top-right corner of the Safari window:
On Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, choose Window > Downloads.
In the downloads list, click Clear.
Clear the downloads list automatically
Open Safari if it is not already open.
Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click General.
Choose an option from the “Remove download list items” pop-up menu.
