Save webpages

You can save an entire webpage, including all its graphics and links, or just bits of text and images from it.

Save text from a webpage

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open, and then go to the webpage that has the text you want to save.

  2. Highlight the text.

  3. Drag the text to a document or to the desktop, or choose Edit > Copy, and then paste the text into a document, email, or other place.

Save an image from a webpage

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open, and then go to the webpage that has the image you want to save.

  2. Control-click the image and choose Save Image to ‘Downloads,’ or choose Save Image As and type a name for the image.

Some images on webpages, such as background images, can’t be saved.

Save a link from a webpage

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open, and then go to the webpage that has the link you want to save.

  2. Do either of the following:

    • Control-click the link and choose Download Linked File, or choose Download Linked File As and type a name for the link.

    • Drag the link to a document or to the desktop. This works for most items you find on webpages.

Save an entire webpage

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open, and then go to the webpage you want to save.

  2. Choose File > Save As.

  3. From the Format menu, choose either Web Archive or Page Source.

  4. Web Archive: All the graphics are saved and links continue to work as long as the destination webpages are available. Web archives are especially useful for pages that might not be on the web for long, such as receipts.

Page Source: Only the HTML source code is saved. This is useful if you want to use the HTML source in a webpage of your own.

Some webpages may prevent you from saving items on the page.
